Employing people in your parish

The below documents have been created to help when looking to employ someone within your parish. Church Recruitment & Employment Handbook is designed to guide churches through the process of recruiting and employing staff in a way that is legally compliant, ethically sound, and aligned with Christian values. It is intended for church leaders, trustees, volunteers involved in HR, and anyone responsible for staffing decisions. It is packed full of useful information, such as how to calculate holidays for part-time staff, and things to think about when employing people.

Church PCCs, as employers, must adhere to employment laws and safeguarding regulations. This includes fair recruitment practices, proper documentation, and ensuring a safe working environment.
