Join the Diocese of Norwich as our Management Accountant and play a central role in producing high‑quality financial information, supporting stewardship of resources, and enabling effective mission and ministry across Norfolk and Waveney.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Producing the annual budgets and monthly management accounts
  • Working closely with budget managers and senior colleagues to monitor performance, analyse variances and support good financial decision‑making.
  • Preparing financial reports for senior staff and various committees.
  • Developing forecasts and ensuring key financial assumptions remain appropriate.
  • Overseeing payroll and ensuring accurate recording of payroll and pension costs.
  • Supporting grant activity, including financial information for bids, monitoring expenditure and reporting.
  • Assisting with the preparation of annual statutory accounts and year‑end processes.
  • Contributing to training and events to promote good financial stewardship

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA or CIMA/CGMA).
  • Experience producing budgets and management accounts within a public or charitable organisation (£5m+ turnover).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non‑finance colleagues.
  • Advanced Excel skills and confidence using financial systems.
  • High standards of integrity, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of charity accounting and Charity Commission requirements.
  • Experience using X-Ledger or similar financial accounting systems.
