We need a Property Management Surveyor to support inspections, maintenance and improvements across our clergy housing portfolio.

Salary: £28,717 – £30,522 (depending on skills and experience)

Join the Diocese of Norwich as our Property Management Surveyor, supporting the Diocesan Surveyor in maintaining and improving our extensive housing stock across Norfolk and Waveney. This is a varied and rewarding role, offering the chance to make a real difference to clergy housing and to the wider work of the Diocese.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting the Diocesan Surveyor with pre‑ and post‑occupation inspections to identify required building works.
  • Coordinating repairs and agreed works following exit inspections, obtaining competitive quotes where appropriate.
  • Responding to property issues as they arise, inspecting homes to determine necessary remedial work.
  • Assisting the Property Services Department, including preparing supporting papers and attending Property Executive meetings.
  • Managing and maintaining the Property Services database, ensuring occupier and property information is accurate and up to date.
  • Handling telephone and email enquiries regarding property maintenance and housing matters.
  • Generating work orders, processing contractor invoices, and monitoring cash flow procedures.
  • Maintaining registers of statutory housing management requirements (e.g., asbestos, electrical, gas and tree surveys).
  • Supporting management of the approved contractors list.
  • Assisting with cash‑flow predictions, budget monitoring, and general administrative duties.
  • Supporting the management of Diocesan House, including contracts, utilities, and facilities‑related tasks.
  • Helping implement the annual Fire Audit and supporting the development of a future property handover process.
  • Providing general assistance to the Diocesan Surveyor and wider team as required.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Experience using property management databases.
  • Excellent IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good attention to detail with thorough, methodical record‑keeping.
  • Ability to manage budgets effectively.
  • Calm, professional, and able to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Able to handle a high‑volume workload and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Capable of working independently and taking responsibility.
  • Logical, systematic and able to work well with a range of people.
  • Supportive of the aims and purpose of the Church of England.
  • Full driving licence and access to a car.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of tenancy law, Land Registry processes, and related property issues.
