Priest in Charge: Hunstanton & Saxon Shore benefice
Posted on: Tuesday 12 November 2024
The Hunstanton and Saxon Shore benefice is prayerfully seeking an experienced Priest to lead the church forward into the future that God has for our eight parishes. The parishes are situated within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in north west Norfolk.
There is an active ministry team of an Assistant Priest, 2 Authorised Worship Assistants, 6 retired clergy, and supportive Churchwardens.
The 5 bedroomed comfortable Rectory is situated in Old Hunstanton.
We are seeking an experienced Priest who will work together with the ministry team and laity to:
– Take time to discover what is important to the parishes now, and be able to work creatively for the future by providing encouraging leadership to deepen our prayer and spiritual life
– Be a unifying factor to pull us together as a benefice and enable us to achieve our as yet unrealised potential
– Be flexible with varying styles of worship and comfortable in their application
– Embrace the opportunities and challenges of a rural and town ministry in this holiday area with energy and enthusiasm
– Minister to the needs of the wider community
– Continue to grow and develop our links with families and young people
– Offer flair and imagination in support of our outreach programmes and events, both church and secular
– Encourage and grow stronger links with other Christian denominations through the Churches Together group in Hunstanton
The Task
– to serve the whole community through pastoral and kindly care
– to encourage living lives rooted in Christ through prayer and worship
– to create outreach opportunities among the growing population in the new housing developments in the area
– to be visible, accessible, and resilient
– to manage and motivate good supportive teams of clergy and laity in a collaborative way
– to be a regular, known and supportive presence in our schools, building relationship with staff, parents, and young people of the area
For an informal discussion about this post, please be in touch with the Archdeacon of Lynn, The Ven. Catherine Dobson on 01362 709200 or email archdeacon.lynn@dioceseofnorwich.org
