Six new priests and eight new deacons were ordained in Norwich Cathedral this weekend.
All 14 are now serving as assistant curates in parishes across Norfolk and Waveney.
The new priests, who have just completed their first year as curates, were ordained on Saturday by the Bishop of Norwich, the Rt Revd Graham Usher, in a service which was both solemn and joyful. And at a packed and celebratory service on Sunday Bishop Graham ordained eight new deacons who will serve as assistant curates across the diocese.
The ordinations were also attended by the bishops of Thetford and Lynn, all three archdeacons of the diocese, canons of the Cathedral, clergy including the diocesan director of mission and ministry and the diocesan director of ordinands, and many friends and family of the new priests and deacons.
The Revd Canon Madeline Light, who retired last year as Vicar of St Stephen’s, Norwich, preached at both services.
The newly-ordained Priests are:
- The Revd Charlotte Eagles who is serving in the Cringleford and Colney.
- The Revd Iain Grant who is serving in Sheringham.
- The Revd Rachel Hayden who is serving in the Upper Tas Valley and Tas Valley.
- The Revd Jonathan Richardson who is serving in Thetford.
- The Revd Melissa Snell who is serving in St George Colegate, St George Tombland and St Giles, Norwich.
- The Revd Jamie Wylie who is serving in Oulton Broad.
The newly ordained Deacons are:
- The Revd Ben Almond who will serve in South and West Lynn.
- The Revd Karen Gower who will serve in Dersingham.
- The Revd Dan Krawczyk who will serve in North Walsham.
- The Revd Hannah Morris who will serve in Flegg.
- The Revd Michael Newey who will serve in Dereham.
- The Revd Carolyn Sexton who will serve in Briston and Briningham.
- The Revd Lucy Stone who will serve in the Mitre Benefice, Norwich.
- The Revd Gaynor Sutton who will serve in in Caister.
