Churches across the UK are being invited to take part in Disability Awareness Sunday 2026, with the release of a free, creative new resource from Christian charity Through the Roof (www.throughtheroof.org).
To mark the day, there will be a special online Church of England service with a focus on disability awareness on Sunday 20th September. You are invited to join in with the service which can be found here: Weekly online services | The Church of England
Or, you may want to support your church to hold its own service, by downloading the free resources to help. The resources are aimed at helping churches to pitch the right tone and include a service, outline plan, prayers and videos.
Disability awareness week is 20th-27th September, however, you can hold a service with a disability focus at any time of the year. The 2026 theme, ‘One Body, Many Parts’ draws on 1 Corinthians 12 and celebrates the truth that the Church is not complete without disabled people.
Disability Awareness Sunday is an opportunity to celebrate difference and belonging. We are all different, the body of Christ consists of many members, including disabled, deaf and neurodivergent. We all belong together.
