Born out of our new Church Revitalisation Programme, the Diocese is launching a new training course to complement the programme and cover both theoretical and practical aspects of reinvigorating your church.
Based in our Training Hub in St Barnabas Church, Russell Street, the ten-week training course is open to anyone – whether ordained or not – wanting to engage with the Diocese of Norwich church planting and revitalisation programme.
The training will cover big questions such as, why is church planting so important? What is evangelism? What is discipleship? What is the problem of decline in the church? What is the power of prayer? Questions that need to be addressed in the pursuit of raising up biblically-healthy churches.
Alongside the questioning aspect of the course will be a grounding in the models and history of church planting, including a study of the apostle Paul’s approach to church planting and revitalisation. Within this exploration, delegates will learn about the need for a solid team to support them and the church as well as how to build such a team.
The holistic aim of the training course is to attract, equip, and inspire future leaders in church communities.
The Revd Ian Dyble, Vicar of the Mitre Benefice, appointed the Diocese first Director of Church Revitalisation, has said:
“The new training hub is particularly important in enabling us to recruit and train individuals to be part of the new teams who will make such a difference, and I’m looking forward to others to catch the vision of the church in action.”
Chair of the programme board, the Venerable Ian Bentley, Archdeacon of Lynn, said:
“Churches are at the heart of community life and a growing church means we can offer more support to local communities. We want to empower churches to exist for their local community, and so each church may have a different focus, style or support depending on local needs.”
