The CAP King’s Lynn Debt Centre is a partnership between national debt charity Christians Against Poverty (CAP) and Churches Together in King’s Lynn with the aim of providing help to anyone who feels weighed down by debt.
This year the Debt Centre team worked hard to ensure that their clients were able to enjoy the festivities. Emily Hart, the Project Manager of CAP King’s Lynn Debt Centre said:
“We were able to give out 21 Christmas hampers as well as sacks of toys to children. Thank you to CAP Head Office donors, Kings Lynn Foodbank and KLFM Toy Drive for helping to make this a great Christmas for our clients whom otherwise would have struggled with the extra financial pressures Christmas brings.”
People who receive Debt Centre support were also invited to the King’s Centre for a performance of the Christmas Angel Panto, with around 40 clients and family members attending. Emily said:
“We all watched the hilarious panto version of the Nativity story which had the powerful message of God’s love weaved throughout the show. Thank you to Kings Centre for hosting us.”
The Debt Centre also hosted its CAP Lounge event in December with new faces coming along. The CAP Lounge is held at the Cornerstone Café in the Cornerstone King’s Lynn Baptist Church every month and is an opportunity for clients and volunteers to get to know each other in an informal church-based setting and build relationships.
The CAP King’s Lynn Debt Centre was set up in April 2016 and has been well-used with the percentage of clients becoming debt free above the national average. Although there is currently a question mark over the funding of the project in the second half of 2019 the team are moving forward positively.

“As we enter the new year I am one who is looking forward to seeing all that God has planned for Kings Lynn and for the Debt Centre. Although we may not know all that is going to happen, I look forward to continuing to build relationships with current clients, meeting new clients and seeing their lives transformed, seeing more clients become debt free, and seeing people respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
