On St Nicholas Day, Friday 6 December 2024, evensong at Norwich Cathedral will revive a custom dating back to the Middle Ages by ceremonially installing a chorister as ‘bishop’ for the service.
The Bishop of Lynn, the Rt Revd Dr Jane Steen, will lead this special service celebrating St Nicholas – the patron saint of children.
The service will begin at 5.30pm and will be immediately followed by the Blessing of the Outdoor Crib, outside the Hostry at approximately 6.15pm.
