Are you a passionate and strategic leader committed to tackling homelessness? We are seeking an inspiring individual to become Chair of Trustees for a well-established charity supporting people experiencing homelessness in West Norfolk.

About Us

Based on Blackfriars Road in the centre of King’s Lynn, the Night Shelter operates year-round providing emergency accommodation and help to some of the most vulnerable individuals in the community. We work with our guests to address barriers to housing and to rebuild their lives with dignity and independence.

The Role

As Chair of Trustees, you will provide leadership to the Board, ensuring best practice in all matters of Charity governance and strategic planning. You will work closely with the Director and fellow Trustees to guide the organisation through its next phase of development and expansion.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead the Board of Trustees, ensuring effective governance and compliance

· Set the strategic direction of the Charity alongside the Board and Director

· Support and challenge the executive team to achieve organisational goals

· Act as an ambassador for the charity, strengthening partnerships and community engagement

· Ensure financial sustainability and good stewardship of resources

What We’re Looking For

· Proven leadership experience at a senior level (board or executive), ideally with Chair experience

· Strong understanding of Charity governance and the responsibilities of Trustees

· Strategic thinking and decision-making skills

· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

· A commitment to addressing homelessness and social inequality

· Sympathy with the aims and ethos of a Christian charity

Experience in the charity sector is welcome but not essential. We particularly encourage applications from individuals with lived experience, diverse backgrounds, or strong local connections within Norfolk.

Time Commitment

The usual time commitment is six Board meetings per year, in addition to regular meetings with the Director, and the opportunity to support the Charity in other ways to suit the candidate’s interests and skills.

Closing date: 12:00 pm Tuesday 5 May 2026
