Three winners have received a £50 prize for their photos of the Norfolk Churches Trust Bike Ride, Walk and Drive in 2021. The announcement comes ahead of this year’s challenge which takes place on Saturday 1o September 2022.

The winners are Thomas Abbott, David Nice and Elizabeth. Here are the judges views on the winning photographs:

Photograph No.1

Thomas Abbott’s photograph of family and friends outside Weybourne church not only reflects the fun element of the bike ride – joining together and sharing a day exploring the churches and lanes of Norfolk – but the breadth of what Norfolk has to offer as a county. The Abbotts’, Harry Steel, the Revd Canon David Longe set themselves the challenge to walk, run, bike and swim! A triathlon challenge that began in 2020. A quick dip in the sea at Weybourne followed their cycle to All Saints, Weybourne.

Photograph No. 2
David Nice is another worthy winner. His blogs and photographs are wonderful records of the day and highlight the history and architectural features of the churches visited. The panel loved this photograph of St Mary’s, Elsing with a beautiful blooming bicycle and black and white timeless signpost directing the eye to villages and towns with more wonderful churches.

Photograph No. 3

The last winner is Elizabeth from Norfolk who took a lovely photograph of a little girl in pink against the dramatic backdrop of the tower of St Michael’s, Great Cressingham. A memory of a happy day.
