The Mothers’ Union branch in the Diocese of Norwich has appointed a new Chaplain. Revd James Stewart, the Rector at Thorpe St Andrew Parish Church was commissioned by the Bishop of Norwich, the Rt Revd Graham Usher. The commissioning took place during a prayer meeting held at the Bishops House.

The Revd James Stewart said:

‘I am delighted to have been appointed, in addition to my parish duties here in Thorpe St Andrew, as Diocesan Chaplain to Mothers’ Union, encouraging them in their role of supporting families and family life across Norfolk and Waveney. They are a prayerful and hardworking group of people, gathering together in branches in rural and urban parts of our Diocese. It is a privilege to be able to lead worship for them and be a listening ear in connection with all that they are doing in prayerful and active service. A number of the Trustees attended the short service of commissioning and they were able to talk afterwards about some of the new and vital work they are promoting in our parishes this year.’

On their facebook page, the Mothers’ Union group wrote:

“James will bring laughter and joy to our meeting and keep us on a spiritual path. Come and meet him at our next Members day in April.”
