All of their programmes are open to churches, chapels and meeting houses of all Christian denominations in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland that are open for worship at least six days per year, and that are open to the public beyond worship for at least 100 days per year.

There are three types of grant available; Cornerstone Grants, Gateway Grants and Foundation Grants.

Cornerstone Grants
The programme funds two types of work.

  • Urgent structural fabric repairs identified in a recent Quinquennial Inspection Report or fabric survey report, and costed at over £100,000 including VAT and fees.
  • Projects that include the installation of kitchens and toilets costed at over £30,000 including VAT and fees.

Cornerstone grants are between £10,000 and £50,000 but we may also make some smaller awards.

Gateway Grants

  • Project development and investigative work up to the RIBA planning stage 1, helping churches prepare for a major project and to gather together the documents required in order to make an application to a major grant funder
