The Rt Revd Graham Usher, Bishop of Norwich, has led a group of young adults from the Diocese of Norwich on pilgrimage to Taizé, joining thousands of other young people from around the world for a week of worship, reflection, discussion and community life.
Set in the heart of rural France, Taizé brings together young adults from different countries, cultures and Christian traditions. The days are shaped by prayer, Bible study, practical tasks and time spent with others, offering a chance to step away from everyday routines and focus on faith and community.
Now at the halfway point of the pilgrimage, members of the Diocese of Norwich group have been sharing what has stood out most during their time there. For some, it has been the peaceful atmosphere of worship and prayer. For others, the strongest memories have come from conversations with fellow pilgrims, meeting people from across the world and building new friendships.
The simple pattern of daily life at Taizé often leaves a lasting impression. Moments of silence sit alongside lively discussions, while large gatherings for prayer are balanced by opportunities for personal reflection. The community’s distinctive chants and musical worship continue to be a highlight for many visitors.
