The Walsingham Way Group will launch a new pilgrimage route from King’s Lynn to Walsingham outside the Minster at 12pm on Saturday 6 June. The event will include several speeches and refreshments, and all are welcome to attend.
This King’s Lynn–Walsingham Way is the second part of the wider Walsingham Way, following the earlier Norwich–Walsingham route. Beginning at King’s Lynn Minster, the 29-mile route passes through Lynn, the Woottons, Castle Rising, Sandringham, Anmer, Great Bircham, South Creake, North Barsham and Walsingham, with Great Bircham marking the halfway point.
After the launch, there will be the option at 1.30pm to walk the first three miles of the route to St Mary’s, South Wootton, where further refreshments will be provided. The route recalls paths used by Hanseatic and English pilgrims in the medieval period, while also offering opportunities to visit historic sites and enjoy walking for wellbeing.
