Hope, gratitude and joy; schoolchildren enjoy using ‘Draw Near’ Lent resources.

If you’re looking for an uplifting story this week, then do read on. Pupils at Cringleford CEVA Primary School near Norwich have been using Lent resources from the Church of England ‘Draw Near’ campaign.

From Hope pebbles, to handprints and thoughtfulness to thankfulness, the children have really engaged well with the resources.

Revd Graham Wilkins is Rector of St Peter’s Church in Cringleford and a governor at the school. Revd Graham says:

“As both a church and as a community, we have really enjoyed using the Church of England’s ‘Draw Near’ Lent resources. It has been amazing to see how the community at Cringleford CEVA Primary School have got involved in looking at all the ways they can show kindness and compassion to all those around them.”

Handprint drawings

In each finger the children have written something they wanted to do to help somebody else. This relates to ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive’  The children coloured in another finger each morning when they had reflected on how they had helped somebody else.

Year 6

Year 6 pupils wrote about what they could give up. Some examples included fudge, screentime, youtube, xbox and even stealing my sister’s things!

Hope Pebbles

These Hope pebbles were created during class worship. The children enjoyed this activity and talked about instances where they had found decorated pebbles when out walking.
