In the glowing report, the primary school was described as a ‘welcoming and inclusive school’ where the pupils are ‘happy and personify the school’s three core principles: ready, respectful and safe.’
Leaders were praised for putting in place an ambitious and inclusive curriculum which the staff have been well trained to deliver.
Mrs Rachael Greenhalgh, headteacher of Gayton Church of England Primary Academy said: “We moved into our beautiful, brand new £6m build school in September 2023 and to receive such a positive Ofsted report is certainly the icing on the cake. Our staff have worked so hard over the past few months to ensure that each and every child at Gayton is the best that they can be and has the opportunity to experience a wide range of activities. This has certainly been well recognised in this report. I was also delighted that the inspector, who spoke to a good number of our pupils, found them to be ‘well-mannered and kind’. This is such an important aspect of our school ethos.”
Oliver Burwood, CEO of Diocese of Norwich Education and Academies Trust (DNEAT) said: “We are delighted that Gayton Primary Academy has maintained its good grading, which is thanks to the hard work of Headteacher Rachael Greenhalgh and her team. The future of this fantastic, brand-new school building, as well as other schools within the area that work closely with Mrs Greenhalgh and Gayton, is very exciting.”
Alongside the praise for the curriculum, reading and personal development were highlighted as strengths. Gayton Primary has a fantastic library (that was opened by young artist Kieron Williamson) in the heart space of the school which pupils love and spoke about with ‘enthusiasm’.
Mrs Greenhalgh added: “The report is helpful as it recognises the good work that we are currently doing to support our SEND pupils effectively in class and how we can further improve by ensuring that we consistently address targets on the pupils’ learning plans. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the staff, pupils and families who work together as such a great team to ensure the absolute best for our school.”
