A fundraising campaign has been launched to provide repairs to a medieval church near Blakeney. St Mary’s Church in Wiveton dates back to 1306, but it needs repairs to prevent it from deteriorating due to leaks.
The main part of the church was completed in 1450, with the windows last undergoing major work in Victorian times. However, they are now letting in so much water that the church organ – which was built for the 1851 Great Exhibition – has to be covered up with Tarpaulins. The community are looking to raise £25,000 by November 2026.
Roger Bland has created a crowdfunding campaign and video about the church, which you can watch here: Wiveton Church: window to the future – a Community crowdfunding project in Holt by Roger Bland
Ceramic designer Emma Bridgewater is backing the campaign and has created a specially designed mug featuring Wiveton church.
