Bishop’s Garden open for Age UK Norwich this Sunday June 1

Visit one of Norfolk’s most historic gardens – and help celebrate the 80th anniversary of a Norwich charity.

The Bishop of Norwich will be opening his garden to the public on Sunday June 1 in aid of Age UK Norwich.

Visitors can explore the early summer delights of the four-acre garden which was first planted by monks many centuries ago, as well as enjoy a family-friendly afternoon of live music and entertainment, games and activities, stalls and refreshments.

Proceeds will go to Age UK Norwich which aims to raise £80,000 in its 80th anniversary year – to be spent on vital services for older people in the city.

Age UK Norwich CEO Dan Skipper said “This year, we’re not only looking back on 80 years of incredible community support – we’re looking forward to what we can achieve together in the next 80. The Bishop’s Garden Open Day is a brilliant way to celebrate and raise funds for the essential work we do every day.

The Bishop of Norwich and his wife regularly open their garden in aid of local charities, inviting visitors to enjoy flower-filled borders backed by cloud-pruned yew, a new herb garden, a jungle walk, an orchard and wildflower labyrinth, a woodland path, lawns, dells and a thriving kitchen garden.

This Sunday’s open garden is part of a series of events marking Age UK Norwich’s 80th year. Volunteers from Aviva will support the charity by helping at the open garden, and there will be entertainment from local groups Fine City Strummers and Reflex Theatre.
