Advent Angels land in Church Porches

From 1-24 December, 18 churches and 2 schools in the Aylsham and District Team are creating a trail of angels for you to enjoy as we prepare for the Christmas season.

A new porch (or entrance hall) will be unveiled each day to showcase the creative talents of the community and their artistic skills in creating a space on the theme of angels.

Inspired by a similar idea first used in beach huts in Brighton, eighteen churches and two schools will unveil their creative ideas across the churches that make up the team. Local schools, organisations, artists, and church families will be celebrating all God’s gifts as they work together to produce twenty thought-provoking installations in this inspirational season leading up to Christmas.

As people take the opportunity to pause for thought and reflection, in what is always a busy time, the hope is that they will be reminded of the true meaning of Advent and Christmas. Each church will be offering something different. There will be a schedule of openings on the Team’s website, social media platforms and posters. You can look forward to the delights of the festive season with mince pies, mulled wine, hot chocolate, carols and so much more.

Have you ever wondered what you would look like as an angel? Well, come along and find out, as our life-size silver angel wings designed so that you can have your photo taken in front of them, will be doing the rounds. To make it really special why not dress for the occasion!

Team Rector, the Revd Canon Julie Boyd says: “Our porches are doorways and entrances to our church buildings and schools. As you follow the Advent Angels around the Aylsham & District Team Ministry this December you will be warmly welcomed and invited to discover more of the riches of the season as we get ready to welcome the Christ Child in our Christmas celebrations.”
