Archdeacon of Norfolk

The Venerable Steven Betts

Archdeacon Steven was installed as Archdeacon of Norfolk in Norwich Cathedral on 29 April 2012.

Born in 1964, Steven’s childhood was spent in Nottingham and he studied Chemistry in York. He then trained for ordination at Cuddesdon and served a curacy in Canterbury Diocese before moving to Norfolk in 1994. He has held a variety of posts in the Diocese of Norwich including as Bishop’s Chaplain, Vicar of Old Catton and Bishop’s Officer for Ordinands and Initial Training (working with ordinands and curates).

He has been chair of the House of Clergy in the Diocese and was one of the Diocesan representatives on the Church of England’s General Synod.

Steven is married to Sarah, a clinical scientist, and they have three sons.
