Church buildings matter because people matter.
Every church building, old or new, was built to enable people to gather together to pray and worship God.
The Diocese of Norwich is the Church of England across the areas of Norfolk and Waveney. Together we are a Christian presence serving every community through a family of 650 churches and 110 schools and academies. We provide support to those caring for church buildings, breathing life and soul into them to provide a warm, welcoming environment and helping preserve each one for future generations.
Our churches receive no government funding, and their care and maintenance is the responsibility of local Parochial Church Councils.
Exploring Norfolk Churches is a website dedicated to treasured church buildings, with histories spanning centuries. You can find walks and trails, a local church to visit, and fascinating stories.
Exploring Norfolk Churches is maintained by Eliza Greenwell, Church Care and Development Officer at the Diocese of Norwich.
