“The Leaves of the trees” will be displayed in church until Sunday 27th November. The installation is displayed on the church’s altar steps, featuring around 5000 leaves. Each leaf is made of steel and because of that, each leaf is unique, some have begun to rust and others have small scratches and marks on them.

The material was chosen to show resilience and collective strength. Each leaf is stamped with the word “Hope”.

Revd Fiona Haworth, our associate priest states

“We are looking forward to welcoming this reflective memorial to St Peter Mancroft for a season of remembering as we explore themes of love, loss, hope, and healing. Art has the power to move us and put us in touch with the emotions that can be hard to put into words. We hope that “The Leaves of the Trees” will offer a time and space for people to reflect on the trauma of the past two years, and the resilience of our communities.”

As part of this month of “The Leaves of the Trees” we will be having two special services in church. The first will take place at 5pm on remembrance Sunday (13th November) and is titled “The Healing of the Nations”. This service will be led by George Allin who is currently working with us as part of the Ministry Experience Scheme. The other service is the “Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice Service” led by Revd Fiona Haworth. This service is on Saturday 26th November at 7pm.

It is also possible to purchase your own leaf directly from the artist, in church.

Each leaf is individually shaped by the artist and comes in a gift box with certificate of authenticity. As with the original artwork, they may begin to rust over time. The Leaves will be dispatched from the artist’s studio to the purchaser within 28 days of receipt of the order. The retail price is £25 including delivery (and VAT)

The church is open Monday-Saturday 10:30am until 3:30pm. The installation is free to view.
