Norwich Cathedral’s ancient architecture is set to be illuminated in spectacular style by an immersive experience inviting people of all ages to be wowed by a unique journey through time.
The centuries-old stone will be the elaborate backdrop for Time by Luxmuralis, an experience promising to be an extraordinary exploration of humanity’s relationship with the concept of time, offering audiences an unforgettable journey through history, science, and imagination.
Time by Luxmuralis will run during the autumn half-term holiday from Tuesday 27 to Saturday 31 October. Tickets are on sale now at www.cathedral.org.uk/luxmuralis
The Revd Canon Aidan Platten, Norwich Cathedral’s Canon Precentor, said: “Norwich Cathedral tells a story of Norwich in its stones every day and so we are excited to be adding to that story by hosting Time by Luxmuralis. This artwork uses light to tell stories of our world and our species and reminds us of the precious gift of time.”
As visitors to Time by Luxmuralis move through the Cathedral, they will journey through a series of captivating installations that portray humans as seen through different eras, exploring the fascinating theories of relativity, and the text of H.G. Wells’ The Time Machine.
Through the immersive projected artworks, attendees will traverse wormholes, venture inside the intricate workings of clocks, and experience a dramatic narrative that spans from the present day back to the very beginning of everything.
Spectators are taken on a mesmerising voyage through the epochs of humanity, ultimately reaching the formation of our planet, creating a profound and awe-inspiring conclusion to this unique spectacle.
Luxmuralis is the name given to the artistic collaboration between Peter Walker Sculptor and David Harper Composer. Together they specialise in immersive fine art, light and sound installations that have been displayed around the UK and the wider world, including everywhere from Westminster Abbey to The Tower of London and Washington National Cathedral in America.
Peter Walker, Artistic Director of Luxmuralis, said: “It is a real pleasure to bring Time to Norwich Cathedral, a place whose remarkable history and architecture make it the perfect setting for this immersive installation. With Time, we wanted to create a journey that invites people to reflect on humanity’s place within the vast story of the universe, while also celebrating the moments that shape our own lives. Every Luxmuralis installation is carefully curated in response to the unique character of the place in which it is shown, and Norwich Cathedral’s extraordinary architecture and rich heritage have helped shape this experience. Through light and sound, we hope to encourage visitors to encounter this magnificent sacred space, discovering new perspectives and a deeper connection with the building, its stories and our shared human experience.”
Time by Luxmuralis will take place at Norwich Cathedral from Tuesday 27 to Saturday 31 October 2026 between 5.15pm and 8pm each night.
Tickets can be booked for entry at 15-minute intervals and people are welcome to spend as much time as they like experiencing Time by Luxmuralis after entry.
Tickets cost £10 for adults (age 16+) and £5 for children (age 4-15). Children age three and under are free.
A £25 family ticket is also available for two adults and up to three children.

Norwich Cathedral is a charity and it costs about £6,000 a day to run the Cathedral. The money raised from this event will help fund the Cathedral’s ongoing daily running costs as well as essential maintenance and conservation work that is vital to making sure this beautiful historic landmark will continue to be here for centuries to come.
