Five Churches Festival

Wednesday 8 July - Wednesday 12 August

From 8-12 July the five beautiful churches of the Glaven Valley – Blakeney, Cley, Glandford, Letheringsett and Wiveton – host five days of world-class classical music and jazz. The Festival’s artist-in-residence is international cellist, Guy Johnston. Guy comes to the Festival in between sell-out performances at the Aldeburgh Festival and the Proms, as well as sneaking a trip down to Norwich Cathedral to perform with the BBC Singers and his old school chum Ashley Grote. Brenda Blewett, the Festival’s Artistic Director explains: ‘It’s a fantastic honour for us to have a musician of Guy’s calibre at the Festival – no need to travel beyond North Norfolk to hear him!’

The rest of the programme features musicians of international acclaim alongside established professionals from across Norfolk – resident string quartet Chaos Collective, award-winning young musicians in concert, a jazz café, Flutes & Frets, a family concert painted live by the children’s book illustrator James Mayhew, conversation and masterclass with Festival Patron Michael Chance CBE, a thrilling outdoor concert at Bayfield Hall given by the legendary, world famous ‘Blake’ and a stunning Festival Finale with Norwich Baroque. There will also be a Festival Praise service on Sunday 12th at 11am in Blakeney Church.
