The King’s New Years Honours List includes DAC Chair and Church Verger

The King’s New Year Honours List 2026 recognises people who have made achievements in public life or committed themselves to serving and helping the UK. This includes people connected to the Diocese of Norwich.

Andrew Barnes has been made an MBE for his services to further education. He was the former chairman of governors at City College Norwich. Mr Barnes is Chair of the Diocesan Advisory Committee (DAC) and provides advice to parishes. Members of the committee are appointed for their knowledge and expertise in the care and use of churches.

Edward Parsons, the land agent of the Sandringham estate, was appointed a Lieutenant in the Royal Victorian Order (LVO) for his service to the Royal Household.

Michael Wheatley was awarded the silver Royal Victorian Medal (RVM). Michael was verger at St Mary Magdalene Church on the Sandringham estate until he retired in 2025.
