The Archdeacon's Charge & Picnic
Bank Holiday Monday 1 May 2017
The Archdeacon's Charge is an annual sponsored fun run or walk, founded by the Venerable John Ashe, Archdeacon of Lynn, designed to be an easy way for parishes to raise money for their church (which will be allocated to their Parish Share) and the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
We are delighted to announce that next year's Charge and Picnic will be held at Wolterton Hall whose new owners have generously invited us to enjoy their grounds.

Wolterton Hall was built for the first Lord Walpole in the 1740s. It lies in the Parish of Wickmere with Wolterton between Aylsham and Cromer. The view from the Hall, looking out over the lawns and to the lake across the route we will be taking, has been described as the finest view in Norfolk! All are welcome for another great event on the May Bank Holiday, Monday 1 May 2017, again setting off at 11am.
All are welcome to walk or to run or you can just come and enjoy the picnic and entertainment. We will again have a circuit of 2.5 miles so that you can choose your distance with a challenge to the fittest to run or walk four circuits (10 miles).
More details will be added to this web page as we get nearer to the day.
Second-hand Book sale at the Archdeacon’s Charge
We will be holding a book sale in the Library of Wolterton Hall and already have a good selection. We would like to collect more and any you donate will not only support the Air Ambulance but also your parish. We will allocate the proceeds in the proportion of the number of books collected by a parish to the number of books sold. The Air Ambulance will receive 50%, 40% will benefit the Parish Share of those parishes which donated books and we will retain 10% towards our costs. If we sell 1000 books and your parish donated 100 for the sale, your parish will receive 10% of the parishes’ allocation.
If you have any books, please gather them together and let Alison Steward (PA to Archdeacon John) know. She will arrange collection, probably when the Archdeacon is passing in your direction. Alison can be reached via: firstname.lastname@example.org or, alternatively, 01362 688032.
The more books you donate, the more your parish will benefit. And, of course, the more books we sell the more your parish will benefit, so do come along on the day and join the fun.
Alternatively, you are welcome to drop boxes of donated books into Diocesan House at Easton, which should include a note of the donating parish name.
