New Messy Morning starts at Cloverfield Church

5 November 2021

Cloverfield church, Thetford have just started a new 'Messy Morning'. Kirsty Houghton shares how their first session went.

On Tuesday 2 November we launched our first Messy Morning at Cloverfield Church, Thetford, a new weekly term-time session from 10-11.30am aimed at children aged 0-4 years and their parents and carers.

We had a lovely start, welcoming 18 families (24 children and 18 adults) to the session. It really was a great number and based on our risk assessment meant I didn’t need to turn anyone away. It felt just right.

Most of these families were from our local estate, in fact, I had at least four conversations with people who said they only live ‘over the road!!’

This half term we are doing a series on creation and all God made, so this week we thought about God making night and day. We created shooting star wands, made star chalk pictures and learnt a new song about all God made and saw that it was good! We celebrated a third birthday, shared some ‘good news from our week’ and finished with a bubble blessing.

It will take time for it to begin to form and grow into a community but was a great starting point.

It was also hugely encouraging having parents saying how much their children (and they) enjoyed it and that they will be back next week!
