Acle memorial gardens ceremony

On Saturday 7 September at 10am at Acle War Memorial Hall Recreation Centre a ceremony took place to celebrate the opening of Memorial Gardens in memory of those who gave their lives in World Wars One and Two.

An opening address was delivered by Barry Brooks, chairman of Acle Recreation Centre who outlined the background to the creation of the Gardens and thanked the Acle Parish Council for its generous contribution to the creation of the Memorial.

Also in attendance were Peter Kingsley, President of Acle Branch of the Royal British Legion and Mark Lockwood its Chairman who read out a list of the local men who had died during the two wars. Mark also recited the Kohima Epitaph.

Cornet player Michael Gould performed the Last Post and Reveille. The Revd Martin Greenland, Rector of the local St.Edmund’s Church presented prayers.
