First Confirmation in 100 years at All Saints Church, East Barsham

The service at which the Rt Revd Norman Banks, Bishop of Richborough celebrated and preached, witnessed James and Hattie Goodley receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, supported by family members and a few fellow parishioners.

James will now also begin his ministry as a Churchwarden for East Barsham. The church was at risk of closure several years ago following a significant lead theft and a dwindling congregation, however, in the past two years, substantial work has been undertaken to restore the building and renew the worshipping community in both faith and number.

Speaking of the service, the Priest-in-Charge, Fr Harri Williams remarked: ‘This was a wonderful day in the life of the Church in this Benefice. Due to different lockdowns, this was the third attempt at organising this service and I was delighted that even the snow did not prevent it from happening. It is always a privilege to present candidates for Confirmation and I am thrilled that James and Hattie have taken this next step in their Christian faith and am grateful for the significant contribution which they have already made to the life of the Church in this place. Despite the effects of the pandemic, the Walsingham Benefice continues to thrive and grow, for which we must say thanks be to God.”
