Salary: £28,000 – £30,000 (dependant on experience and competence)

40 hours per week (Monday to Friday 08:00 – 16.30)

Do you have previous repairs and maintenance experience? Are you committed to putting the customer at the heart of what you do? We are looking for enthusiastic operatives that wants to provide high quality work to support our business and its values.

At Spire we focus on delivering high profile customer driven projects that need to be delivered on time, within budget and fulfil the needs of our diverse client portfolio. As one of our General Operatives you will play a crucial role in our busy maintenance and construction projects. The main focus will be on the repair and maintenance of residential properties, schools and church buildings so a diverse skill set will be required to ensure the successful completion of work to the highest standards. This is a client facing role with potential for career progression together with the opportunity to play a significant role in influencing the future growth of the company. We are located to East of Norwich and provide services throughout Norfolk.

Spire is a property consultancy that specialises delivering projects generally associated with either, education, housing, church and non-church schools, parochial church councils and parish councils. Some of our key customers include the diocese of Norwich Board of Education and Academies Trust, Head Teachers and School Governors, Church Wardens and members of Parochial Parish Councils and Parish Councillors.

This is an exciting time to join the Spire team as we have plans to expand the services on offer and grow not only the core business but actively pursue external clients from all sectors.

At Spire, we are working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment for all staff so we will be looking for someone who is “time served” and experienced, having prior technical experience isn’t always necessary for success.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a general repairs & maintenance.
  • Broad knowledge and understanding of building maintenance, including carpentry, tiling, plastering, painting and general handyperson skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under own initiative and manage a busy workload.
  • Experience in managing Health & Safety and compliance.
  • Ability to identify building defects and advise on remedial work.

The successful applicant will be subject to a basic DBS (criminal record) check and will be expected to undergo relevant safeguarding and mandatory training.
