Offer a warm church welcome to new local residents with a church card.

Moving to a new house can be exciting but also a tiring and sometimes an isolating experience. The church can play a valuable role in welcoming new residents by providing them with helpful local information and a friendly a face.

Design a card to give to a newcomer in your neighbourhood.
Use the card to offer them a warm welcome and share with them useful information about the area including key amenities and opening times e.g. shop, pub, library as well as local activities e.g. toddler groups, coffee morning, church activities/service times.

  • Consider whether you have people in your church who can offer babysitting, or other services that may be useful to someone in a new house.
  • Have church members write and hand deliver cards as a point of contact with new residents
  • Send follow up cards and invitations during their first year inviting them to other events and special services the church are running.
  • Use the pastoral services diary app to log dates and get reminders about when to send cards.
