Warm welcome to new priest at Drayton
9 August 2018
A large congregation gathered in St Margaret’s Church for the Licensing and Installation service of Revd Marc Palmer as Priest-in-Charge of St Margaret’s on a warm summer's evening in early August.
The service was conducted by the Bishop of Thetford, Rt Revd Alan Winton, together with the Archdeacon of Norwich, The Ven Karen Hutchinson. Also taking part in the service was the Dean of Norwich Cathedral, The Very Revd Jane Hedges and the Rural Dean of Norwich North, Canon Simon Stokes.
Attendees included representatives from Drayton CofE Junior School, Drayton Parish Council and the local Churches Together group. Many of Marc’s clergy colleagues attended in support, together with parishioners from Marc’s previous parish, St Mary Magdalene, Silver Road, and parishioners from St Margaret’s.
After a joyous service, refreshments were served in the hall of Drayton Junior School, thanks to the generous support of Mr R Carter DL, Carter Builder and by kind permission of the school.
From Sunday 5 August, services at St Margaret’s returned to their usual pattern of 8am and 10.30am Communion services and a weekly Wednesday 10am Communion service. Full details can be found on the website, or on the monthly newsletter, copies of which can be found in the church.
