Over 100 Ukranian guests attended a tea party in Stratton Strawless along with their host families on 13th August.

The ‘Grand English and Ukrainian Makoviv Tea Party’ was held in the garden of Meg and Charles Foster. Charles is a churchwarden at St Margaret’s Church and Meg is a member of the PCC.

The garden party included food, games, music, Morris dancing and flowers that were given as part of the Ukrainian custom, along with honey, the tradition of Makoviv.

Revd Chris Engelson said;

“Members of the local community helped to organise the event which was a very happy day with support and friendships shared. Jesus was present and honoured by this happy event and it will be remembered by all who came.”

Meggan Foster said;

“It was such a humbling and wonderful day.”

Meg and Charles Foster will continue to have their garden open every Sunday in August and September for Ukrainian families to have a break.
