After Eucharist and luncheon with the Chapter, Bishop Graham proceeded to Archbishop Sancroft High School, where he told the assembly of young students a story of incredible grace and generosity; in keeping with their theme of generosity for this term. The story finished with the line “who has the son, has everything” – a poignant reminder of the truth of Christianity.
From there, Bishop Graham and the Senior Student Leadership Team – a small, elected body of students – went to the Oasis Space to discuss questions they had for him. Topics ranged from how Bishop Graham got into ministry, to how the world began; from how can we support the marginalized around us to what happens after we die. The spirited and engaging discussion continued until it was time for Bishop Graham to open the new swimming pool changing rooms, then leave for his next stop.
It was then a quick drive to Emmaus at Ditchingham where the Bishop was warmly welcomed with blackberry and apple pie made by one of the companions of the community there. Bishop Graham sat and talked to the people who work there and a few of the companions about the origins of Emmaus in post-war France right up to the fantastic work they are doing right now.
Once his conversation and cup of tea was finished, Bishop Graham travelled on to see the museum of the 100th Bomb Group at Thorpe Abbotts. There, volunteers showed him the highlights of their museum, telling the amazing stories of bravery and sacrifice behind the array of items.
In the evening, people gathered in St Mary’s Church, Diss to ask Bishop Graham their questions about how he saw his future role in the Diocese. After the questions and answers, the visit finished with Compline.
