Acting Headteacher, Chloe Cole said: “We are very excited to have joined DNEAT. We launched a brand-new logo designed by our children. Being part of DNEAT will enable our children to access a range of further opportunities, allow our staff to work collaboratively with staff from other DNEAT academies-sharing expertise, resources, knowledge and gaining development opportunities, the leadership team and governing body being supported and challenged by an AGEP to raise standards and ensure every pupil receives the best possible educational start in life.”
Chloe said: “Children in Year 2 spent time in class reflecting on and considering their school values, what their school is most proud of and what lies at the heart of the school curriculum in order to design a new school logo. Two children’s artwork were selected as winning pieces. Phillip drew a dove with an olive branch and felt that this symbolised hope and peace, Jemima sketched a boy and girl holding love hearts to represent love and friendship. These were merged together to create the new Academy logo.”
Christy Burdock from Jazzy Mosaics visited the school and worked collaboratively with the children and staff to create a new mosaic of this logo. Every child and staff member glued a tile in place to form the mosaic.
Chloe Cole and Patricia Waller Chair of Governors and the school council unveiled this on the conversion date.
Celebrations included a whole school collective worship where they sang the hymn, Thank you Lord for this new day, the staff team enjoying a cake which featured the new logo and every child planted a bulb in the DNEAT colours of purple and white to show that as the flowers will bloom and grow so shall our Academy.
Oliver Burwood CEO of Diocese of Norwich Education and Academies Trust said: “It has been great working with Dereham as they complete their journey into the Trust. We are as excited as the school team to have them onboard and working collaboratively with our 39 other schools across the Diocese.”
The 164 pupils and employs 37 staff and is rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted.
