Churches throughout diocese support campaign to provide warm community spaces

This month, churches across the Diocese of Norwich are taking part in a weeklong national campaign to provide warm spaces for people struggling to pay energy bills; offering not just a refuge from the cold weather but in many cases also food, activities and a chance to be part of the community.

Between Monday 20 – Sunday 26 January, the Warm Welcome Spaces campaign aims to connect people seeking a warm, welcoming place to shelter with a network of public venues – many of which are churches and church halls – that throw open their doors to all who need support.

The weeklong initiative aligns with the pastoral work that churches throughout Norfolk and Waveney carry out each and every day of the year, with a plethora of regular clubs and groups providing vital community services.

In addition, many churches within the diocese can also be found listed on the Places of Welcome network, coordinated by Church Urban Fund, which encourages community groups to provide their neighbourhoods with venues to meet every week all year round.
