Learners will have the opportunity to explore the history, art and architecture of church buildings from Norfolk and beyond, from the medieval period to the present day.
Starting soon is ‘Be a Church Detective – Level 1’ (Tuesdays, 4 February – 3 March 10am-12pm).
This short five-session course will give learners the basics to understand churches of all ages – medieval and later.. The course will cover plans, architecture, social history, fixtures and furniture, and also look at how changing ideas have altered the buildings, including a trip to one of the Norwich city churches, where learners can try out your new-found skills.
Other highlights of the programme include:
- The Beauty of Holiness by Dr Mary Fewster – Day School on 22 February, exploring religious objects of precious metal, their makers and their significance in churches and worship
- Coach tours of historic churches in Essex and Cambridgeshire
- *New* Short Course – An Introduction to Norwich Churches, starting on 12 May
