Care for clergy

People often turn to the church for support through life’s events and trials, so looking after vicars’ own emotional and spiritual needs is vital.

The Diocese of Norwich is committed to providing a high standard of pastoral care for vicars and their families. During the time they are actively serving their parish we offer them counselling and support, over and above the pastoral care they also receive from Bishops and Archdeacons.

Retired vicars are not forgotten – we ensure that they are provided with a very good pension, contributed to by the Diocese. We continue to help meet their emotional and spiritual needs through a network that supports retired vicars and the widowed spouses of vicars. Local representatives across the Diocese organise events and gatherings where they can still enjoy the mutual support and company of others who have spent much of their lives serving the church.
