It's Beane a blast

14 August 2019

The community of Aylsham threw a huge one-day festival this month to say thank you and farewell to Revd Canon Andrew Beane and his family, as he moves to take up a new post as the Archdeacon of Exeter in Devon.

The day began with a special Quarter Peel of the Aylsham Church Bells (the first in decades). Around 400 people then packed into the church for Andrew’s emotional final service.

Hundreds more people then joined in the fun throughout the afternoon enjoying a big community bring and share picnic; live music from the Vocalights, Lisa Martin Band and Sons of Mark; Children and Youth Activities; Pop-up Pub; BBQ; teddy bear wip wire; stormtroopers; photobooths; pop-up escape game; and enough cake and sausages rolls to sink a battle ship.

Here is a selection of the comments from Aylsham Residents:

“It was a fantastic day that reflected all that Andrew Beane & Catherine have achieved in Aylsham & beyond. Thank you so much to all those involved on the organisation. I think you can consider it a huge success!”

“Brilliant event for a brilliant family. Thanks for all you’ve done for the town and its surrounding villages.”

“It was a great day. Thank you to all involved.”

The Revd Jack Branford, Curate at Aylsham Parish Church said:

“What a fantastic farewell for our wonderful Vicar and his family. The Church and churchyard were packed all day as around a thousand people came to wish them well. A massive thank you again to everyone who was involved in putting the event together, and of course a huge thank you to Andrew, Catherine and Lucy for all they have done for our Church and community.”
