Bishop Graham encourages you to ‘add your voice to the call’

The Lambeth Conference met in Canterbury in 2022. Their purpose was to explore what it means to be ‘God’s Church for God’s World’. The outcome was a list of ‘Calls’ relevant to the life of the Anglican Communion.

Each call includes declarations, affirmation and common calls for action or reflection. The themes for the Lambeth Calls are:

  • Discipleship
  • Environment and Sustainable Development
  • Anglican Identity
  • Safe Church
  • Science and Faith
  • Human Dignity
  • Christian Unity
  • Mission and Evangelism
  • Inter Faith
  • Reconciliation

The aim of each call is to deepen faithfulness to God, advance the ministry of the communion, and enable wider participation by churches around the world. The current focus for September to December is on Environment and Sustainable Development.

The next step is for as many people to get involved as possible and Bishop Graham is encouraging you to get involved. There are several ways you can do this.

  1. Join a local webinar. These webinars are open to everyone and are led by someone from our Diocesan community. We meet for group reflection, Bible study and discussion on each of the Lambeth Call themes. The first webinar is on Environment and Sustainable Development on 21 November, 6.30-7.30pm. The webinar will be led by Barbara Bryant and The Revd Canon David Long. Barbara is the Diocesan Environment Officer and David is Chair of the Diocese of Norwich Environmental Working Group. The Zoom link is here.
  2. There are bible study resources to read through and share with your church or home group. You can view and download these here.
  3. You can register for webinars about the themes here:  Register for Phase 3 Webinars – The Lambeth Conference
