Three years of the Breakfast Café

10 December 2019

At a Central Visitation in 2016 Bishop Graham James spoke about the Epistle of James and how it is always necessary for Christians to engage with their community. The Bishop's words inspired the Breakfast Cafe at Saint Andrew's Church, Lowestoft.

The Café opened in December 2016 with volunteers from the church providing a good value breakfast for people in the Roman Hill community, many of whom survive on very low income levels.

December 2019 marks a major milestone: the Café has been open for three years. In that time staff have served hundreds of bacon sandwiches and bowls of cereal and, importantly, dozens of people have come together to enjoy Christian hospitality. As a result many new friendships have been forged and a sense of community is growing.
