St Michael's Church of England Academy in South Norfolk was rated as good and received positive feedback from the regulatory body.

Ofsted described the academy as “welcoming and friendly, with happy pupils and staff”. This atmosphere is credited to contributing to the effective safeguarding practiced within the school where pupils have “strong relationships with staff mean[ing] that there is always someone to talk to”.

Headteacher Heather Brand said:

We are very pleased that the hard work of our lovely pupils and dedicated staff was recognised by the inspector during her recent visit.”

The inspector strongly praised the work of the Diocese of Norwich Education and Academies Trust (DNEAT) in supporting and challenging the academy and the Trusts Academy Group Executive Principal (AGEP), Louise Rosen, was highlighted as being a great aid to the academy. Opportunities offered by DNEAT in continuing professional development for staff was also highlighted.

Additionally, the strong governance was noted with the inspector commending the Chair of the governing body, J’Anne Roberton, for her experience and expertise.

Since the school was last inspected, an additional classroom and library have been built and the report comments on the new buildings as “providing a good-quality learning environment”.
