Eco Church is an award scheme for churches in England who want to demonstrate that the gospel is good news for God’s earth. It’s an A Rocha UK project, run in partnership with the Church of England and other charities including Christian Aid and Tearfund.
You can get involved as a church, office, school or individual. All you have to do is complete an online Eco survey about how your church is caring for God’s earth in different areas. The answers you provide help to collect points towards an Eco Church award, the more your church does, the more points you get.
For example, even switching to Fairtrade tea and coffee can help gain Eco Church award points.
The survey takes you through five key areas of church life:
- Worship and teaching
- Management of church buildings
- Management of church land
- Community and global engagement
- Lifestyle
