The delicate paper boats are currently suspended from the ceiling of the church in Redenhall Parish. “This is to celebrate the 400th anniversary next year of the sailing of the Mayflower to the Americas,” explains the Rector the Revd Nigel Tuffnell. “Onboard was Dr Samuel Fuller and Edward Fuller, both from Redenhall parish. There will be a great many events in the coming twelve months. The church is open during the day for anyone to come and appreciate the spectacle!”

The festival runs from Thanksgiving 2019 to Thanksgiving 2020. It is hoped that some of the direct descendants of the Fuller family will be visiting in the summer.

Local schools and organisations are getting involved in a wide variety of events and projects from displays to competitions to mark this anniversary. Many of the events will be hosted by the parish church.

Harleston Town Council is applying for a Pilgrim 400 apple tree which has been cultivated for the celebrations. “If we are successful,” said a spokesperson, “ours will be planted in the cemetery in Redenhall, the spiritual church of the Fuller family.”

Full details of the festival programme will be published on and Redenhall Church will post events held there on our What’s On listings.
