After saying morning prayers near the town sign in Attleborough the Bishop jumped in a former London taxi provided by Rosedale Funeral Homes to head to St George’s Distillery.
After a brief tour of the distillery during which the Bishop learnt about the process of whisky making he breathed in ‘the angel’s share’, the whisky which evaporates during ageing process, before blessing the whisky and tasting a small sample.
Next stop was Attleborough Day Centre which is celebrating its 25th anniversary next month. Bishop
Jonathan sang to the service users and enjoyed lunch with them.
In the afternoon the Bishop visited Banham Zoo where he met with pupils from Brisley Primary School who were enjoying a day out. The Bishop was pleased to hear from zoo staff about the zoo’s community engagement and conservation projects. He also posed with Scruffy the vulture.
Later Bishop Jonathan visited the Bishop’s School in Thetford where he took questions from children in year
4, including what a Bishop does and why he wears purple, before walking to Thetford Priory where prayers
were said among the ruins of the ancient Church.
The Bishop’s tour concluded at the Charles Burrell Centre where he saw a variety of community
enterprises including a horticultural project for ex-offenders.
The Revd Matthew Jackson, Rector of St Mary’s Church in Attleborough, said:

things happening in our communities. It’s wonderful to see the outreach and community work happening
between the church and local organisations in our towns and villages.”
