There are a wealth of resources online relating to caring for churches and other historic buildings, covering all sorts of subjects. Below are links to some of those that might be of particular interest, with a brief description of each. The list will be added to in coming months.
The SPAB has many useful resources which can be found from the home page linked to above. Their knowledge base, where you can search for guidance on a huge range of building fabric matters, may be useful and can be found here. They also have sections dedicated to Maintenance Matters and Faith in Maintenance.
A range of advice can be found through Historic England’s ‘Places of Worship’ pages including on church maintenance, new and additional uses for places of worship and open and welcoming churches.
- Volunteers’ Project and Resources Toolkit – Diocese of Lincoln
This exciting new toolkit consists of a range of videos and resources that guide you through key subjects such as project management, writing grant applications and using the online faculty system.
- The Church of England’s ‘Church Care’ site contains a wealth of advice and guidance and useful policy and notes on matters relating to the care and development of church buildings. Link to Church Care website. Church Care cover everything from Bats in Churches to step by step guides to reordering and extensions and the faculty system.
- ‘Parish Resources’ have advice on a range of matters including capital fundraising and building projects, and a list of possible grant funders for churches.
