Resources and articles to support with good stewardship of God’s world
Developing wisdom and courageous advocacy are two integral components of the SIAMS Schedule with schools/inspectors asked to explore:
How well the school’s Christian vision inspires the whole school community to engage in social action and to be courageous advocates for change in their local, national and global communities
Useful resources
The Diocese of London have created a resource with environmental events linked to the 2020/2021 calendar year.
There is fantastic Faith at Home collective worship video and planning for Primary Schools to generate reflection on climate emergencies. There is also a video and planning for Secondary Schools.
Dear World Leaders…
The Global Sustainability Institute (GSI) at Anglia Ruskin University is celebrating its 10th anniversary. For this anniversary almost a hundred children, each about the same age as the institute, wrote letters to World Leaders, sharing their thoughts about climate change and their hopes for the next 10 years. Letters were received from children in the UK, India, USA, Australia, Russia, Hungary, Nigeria, Mexico, and Brazil.
As a result, a FREE downloadable book has been produced to try to bring together some of the things that have changed during the children’s lifetime and highlight the things we need to do in the next 10 years – things that the children call for in their letters.
The book explores many areas of environmental concern and provides some thought-provoking activities at the back to use with primary aged children.
Ten years is a lifetime for many children, including the children who wrote the letters that inspired the publication of this book. We now acknowledge that as stewards of God’s creation we have left it late to act, but it is not too late, to change the future. The next ten years are key in making good some of the bad things that have happened to God’s world.
