A message of thanks from the new Diocesan Secretary

29 September 2021

Tim Sweeting became the Diocesan Secretary in September. He shares a message of thanks.

“Let me start with a huge thank you to all the people who have warmly welcomed me into my new role. Although I have been a member of a local congregation for many years and been a PCC and Deanery Synod member too, I have a steep learning curve ahead of me as I seek to serve you well as Diocesan Secretary. Your prayers for the journey ahead are much appreciated!

“I have worked in charities for the last 22 years, with the last 12 spent leading YMCA Norfolk, a local Christian charity. Over this time, I have sought to empower people to make decisions that will see their lives transformed so they have hope for this life and the next.

“So I am over the moon that our new diocesan vision is also about transformation; that we, and those in our communities, would be transformed by Christ, prayerfully, pastorally, and prophetically. This certainly gives me a clear purpose as I start, and I hope provides a framework for all of us as we work together as a diocese.

“I have inherited a talented and committed team at the Diocesan Board of Finance, who, although much reduced in number due to the recent financial pressures, are working extremely hard to help PCCs, clergy, and congregations with the resources, advice, and support they need. I will share more about what they are doing on your behalf in future updates.

“I certainly look forward to working with you all to enable our churches to thrive so they can continue to share the love of God at the heart of their communities, in the way we have seen so powerfully through the pandemic.”
