The term Holy Communion Assistants includes those who assist in the distribution of Holy Communion at the Eucharist, and those who may take Holy Communion using previously consecrated elements to the sick, housebound, or residential care homes. This role is both a privilege and a responsibility.
Authorisation is issued by the Incumbent or Priest-in-Charge following PCC agreement for each named person. There is a template below which parishes may wish to use, together with guidance.
Authorisation is limited to three years, and must specify the expiry date, though they can be renewed with PCC agreement.
I am deeply grateful for those who undertake this ministry on behalf of the Church, bringing the joy, comfort and solace of the Holy Communion to so many.
